The Wet Food

Why Wet Food Matters

🐾 Hydration Boost – Cats naturally have a low thirst drive, which can lead to dehydration. Wet food contains around 70-80% moisture, helping to keep your feline hydrated and supporting kidney and urinary health.

🐾 Supports Digestion – The soft texture of wet food is easier to digest, making it an excellent choice for kittens, senior cats, and those with dental issues.

🐾 High-Quality Protein & Nutrients – Wet food often contains higher levels of real meat, essential amino acids like taurine, and fewer carbohydrates, aligning with a cat’s carnivorous nature.

🐾 Weight Management – Due to its high moisture content, wet food helps cats feel full while consuming fewer calories, making it a great option for weight control.

How to Incorporate Wet Food into Your Cat’s Diet

βœ” Mix Wet & Dry Food – A combination provides balanced nutrition while maintaining convenience.

βœ” Choose High-Quality Brands – Look for grain-free options with real meat as the first ingredient.

βœ” Serve Fresh – Store leftovers properly and avoid leaving wet food out for too long.

What about a raw diet?

In our cattery we do teach out kittens to eat raw food. Up to four times a week they will have a raw meat mix.

The mix is made out of lean beef parts such as chuck, rump and shank. We add ground chicken necks to the beef as this will harden the stool but also add calcium and collagen for healthy bones and a shiny coat.

What canned dry food do we feed our cats?

We feed mostly Select Gold and Real Nature Original.

How much wet food a day?

A kitten will eat 70 to 100g of wet food a day.

You can give it all at once in the morning, but for the rest of the day the kitten will have to eat dry food.

You can also give half in the morning and half in the evening. In between the feeding the kitten will eat dry food.

A dry food dispenser is quite useful as some kittens eat all their dry food at once. The dispenser can be programmed to give a certain amount of dry food every few hours. During the night the kitten will have food and not wake you up either.
